DUNE
In 2024, I created a game concept UI based on DUNE, focusing on two key aspects. The first was "What kind of content would DUNE include if it were a game?" I explored how players could choose a House, complete missions aligned with the story, and experience Paul Atreides’ journey in the desert in a game-like way. Since I enjoy console-based narrative-driven games, designing a UI that brings DUNE’s story to life was incredibly exciting—I lost track of time working on it. As a UI designer, I also found it fascinating to use AI to generate resources that are otherwise difficult to obtain, such as character assets and backgrounds.
The second focus was ensuring that the UI truly captured the essence of DUNE and resonated with those who love its concept. I aimed to create a design that felt ancient yet sophisticated, modern yet futuristic. Throughout the process, I often imagined the grandeur and mystical atmosphere of ancient Egyptian civilization as inspiration.
The project received a lot of positive feedback, but I still see areas for improvement. Since I have a personal rule of keeping my projects within two months, I eventually had to stop at a certain point. The reason for this is that when I work on something for too long, my eyes become too familiar with it, making it harder to identify issues. Instead, I plan to continue updating it little by little whenever I have time, just like a real game receives patches over time. I hope my project helps you imagine the vast and majestic world of DUNE.
